11. Container With Most Water

Problem:
Given n non-negative integers a1a2, ..., an, where each represents a point at coordinate (iai). n vertical lines are drawn such that the two endpoints of line i is at (iai) and (i, 0). Find two lines, which together with x-axis forms a container, such that the container contains the most water.
Note: You may not slant the container and n is at least 2.
Analysis:
This problem uses greedy approach, I have no idea how the greedy approach can get the right result. The code is self explanatory.

class Solution {
    public int maxArea(int[] height) {
        if (height == null || height.length == 0)
            return 0;
        int l = 0, r = height.length - 1, res = 0;
        while (l < r) {
            res = Math.max(res, Math.min(height[l], height[r]) * (r - l));
            if (height[l] < height[r]) {
                l++;
            } else {
                r--;
            }
        }
        return res;
    }
}
